Trashy
Tuesday - Pediatric Therapy Associates, PC is dedicated to providing the
highest quality professional services possible to our clients and families.
However once each week we 'shed' our professional appearance (and ONLY our appearance!) and have a
dress-down day that we have affectionately named "Trashy Tuesday" for the day
of the week that we may 'dress-down'. This
day was chosen because it is the day that we all meet in the office for staff
meetings and this way everyone can 'pay up' since dressing-down costs $1.00 per
day. Funds are then distributed
once every three months to the following charities:
·
Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Lehigh Valley ·
American Cancer Society ·
American Heart Association ·
United Way
Big
Brothers/Big Sisters of the Lehigh Valley - In addition to the 'Trashy Tuesday'
contributions, our staff regularly participates in the Bowl for Kids Sake
sponsored by Big Brothers/Big Sisters every March. This
event requires raising pledges for each pin bowled in one game of bowling. We
have at least as much fun bowling as we do feeling rewarded by helping such a
fine organization. American
Heart Association - Staff members have assisted with the 'Children's Tent' at
the annual Lehigh Valley American Heart Walk held annually in September. The
Children's Tent was established in order to raise awareness of the incidence of
heart disease in children. Heart
disease is not just for those over 50!
Buddy
Walk - sponsored by the National Down Syndrome Society, staff members
participate in this walk and raise pledges to assist the Eastern Pennsylvania
Down Syndrome Center in Trexlertown, PA. Giving Tree - Each December Pediatric Therapy Associates, PC decorates an artificial Christmas tree in our office with the names of needy families and the gifts that the family needs. Our wonderful office clients and staff members fulfill these needs every holiday season. Cops and Books - Encouraged on by our Senior Speech Language Therapist and Quota Club member, Heidi Beck, staff regularly contribute books to this worthwhile effort to improve literacy for the children of the Lehigh Valley. Backpack Awareness Day - Sponsored by the American Occupational Therapy Association, the occupational therapy staff has promoted 'pack it light-wear it right' for children in September of the past two years. This event included a coloring contest in 2005 as well as a contest to guess the weight of a new, well-filled, rolling backpack. Prizes are, of course, rolling backpacks! Honduras - Clinica Evangelica Moravo, sponsored by the Moravian Church of North American since 1930, has been the recipient of occupational therapy services as provided by our Clinical Director, Sally Abruzzese. With the support of her church, Sally has adopted the children of this remote village who have special needs and will be visiting them yearly to provide services, materials and support to improve their lives. |
